Seattle Passes Plastic Bag Tax

How sweet is that??? The City Council of Seattle passed a 20-cent bag tax for all plastic or paper bags, to the tune of 6-1. The message is loud and clear; Seattle does not want to forsake the environment for mere convenience. Before the tax is enacted in January 2009 the City will hand out one reusable bag per household.

Seattle understands that people created the problem, and people will rise up to solve it. Do you think your City Council could, or would, do the same?
